The Welsh outfit were thrust under a global spotlight in the spring of 2021 when a couple of Hollywood actors decided to invest in a side turning out in the fifth tier of English football. Their presence at SToK Racecourse was always going to attract plenty of attention, and interest has been retained throughout their co-chairmanship.

The ‘Welcome to Wrexham’ documentary has offered the Dragons a window to the world – making stars of those that were relative unknowns before the television cameras showed up – while a penchant for dramatic victories on the field has helped to capture the imagination of loyal and neutral supporters.
WHAT THEY SAID
There was always going to be a bit of a dip after the initial flurry of activity in North Wales, but club captain Tozer has told when asked if Wrexham still boast mass appeal: “The interest is still there, there are still a lot of American fans outside the ground daily – after training, before training, It’s all still pretty much there but it’s never going to be kept to those levels [when the owners arrived and delivered promotion back to the Football League].”

Wrexham are pushing for back-to-back promotions this season, with Tozer adding on the challenges presented by League Two in 2023-24: “I’ve been in the league before and there is a lot more quality that comes off the bench, there is a bit more tactical nous. The players are a lot fitter in this league, so last year we were blowing teams away with 10-15 minutes to go. The crowds are bigger. It’s an all round better league and we are enjoying it.” Phil Parkinson’s side sit fourth in the table as things stand, with a home date against rock-bottom Sutton United set to be taken in on Tuesday.
