The announcement of a fourth season of the show came from co-owners Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney at the Disney Upfront 2024, the annual event where upcoming programming for the following television season is presented to advertisers.

The next series of the award-winning , which has shone an even brighter global spotlight on the club than simply having world famous owners alone could do, will cover their journey into League One in 2024-25. The third series, telling the story of 2023-24's promotion out of League Two, is currently airing on FX and streaming on Disney+.

There is a whole season of football to be played first, but series four is likely to begin airing in May 2025. That would mirror the start of series three this year, which began at the end of the football season it corresponds to, rather than at the beginning of the next as had been the case with series one and two.
